Carol and Al, husband and wife, became involved with Restoring Heroes in 2015 with an offer of professional experience to build a program for an underserved population that needed services and had an impediment to access. 

Al Novak has a successful background in Medical Devices and financials.  For 17 years,  Al was Chair of GoodWill Industries Board in Miami, the most successful Goodwill program in the country, where they helped disabled find financial opportunities for income.  He has also worked as CFO of Cordis Corp in Miami, COO of Biosense, and also a partner in Syntheon- a medical technology developer. 

Carol has been a forever volunteer; she has volunteered in Dade County Public Schools for 17 years, is a founding board member of Kristi House Child Advocacy Center in Miami, and has organized a state wide network in Florida of Advocacy centers.  

Carol also has years of serving in the educational departments; she has Chaired the Deans Advisory Council at Stemple School of Public Health at FIU, served University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center Friends Board, and served as a mentor for High School Students. She currently sits on the Community Based Care Alliance Board - which is oversight for Child Welfare in Miami Dade and Monroe County.

 

The duo continues to put their strength into Restoring Heroes believing that the personnel who protect our freedoms and ability to live free of fear should be served and honored. It is their life mission to educate society on the importance of medical attention for our Heroes.
